Maybe I’m missing something here, but TCM are reporting about Labhras O Murchu’s claims that we’re not comparing like with like. To use his example, compare 5-star hotels between here and other EU countries. Then go ahead and compare insurance prices (all types of insurance). Take in labour costs (again like with like), fuel costs, and all the other various contributors to the high cost of the Irish hospitality industry. Clearly Labhras is just mouthing off for attention, as I can’t see any aspect of hospitality costings that compare favourable with the EU. Insurance is the big one. Should we just ignore that so that we can compare favourably with other countries?
