Issue with window icon and system variables, when launching CygWin with a keyboard shortcut key

The scenario is this. I have a Microsoft Natural Pro keyboard (to encourage me to type better, but we all know the concept, in itself, is ridiculous, let alone the practicing of it). I’ve redefined the Back key (meant to be used with a web browser) to launch a Cygwin shell. All works fine, except 2 things. Firstly, the icon, displayed in the window title bar, is not the CygWin icon, but rather the generic Command.exe icon. Also, system variables set (using the environment variables dialog in Computer/System properties) don’t reflect in new shell windows opened.

Revisit: Steve Jobs introduces the Macintosh in 1984

Although, primarily a PC user, I do admire Macs, and have done right through their history.. price is the only thing putting me off right now (it used to be peripheral device support, but that’s more or less sorted).

If you have broadband, it’s well worth a look at the original release of the Mac, back in 1984. There are some links to download it on this blogging site.

It was a huge step in personal computing history, even the most avid (IBM based) PC fans will have to admit that .. and it reminds me so much, of present-day MacWorlds. The audience erupts when the Mac generates a scrolling “M A C I N T O S H” across the screen, it’s amazing to watch.. so stop reading this and go download it!!

1 iPod Photo Review

So I pressied myself with an iPod Photo a couple of weeks ago. Yes, I am impressed. The click wheel can scroll through hundreds of photos in a second or two, which is the most impressive navigation I’ve seen on small devices. There are lots of cool things about it, but you’ll have read that elsewhere no doubt.
